To install vsftpd in Ubuntu Server 12.04, do the following First, install it:

sudo apt-get install vsftpd

To install VMWare tools on Ubuntu Server 12.04, do the following:

Install gcc:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

In vSphere, Select Install/Upgrade VMWare Tools. Next, mount the CD ISO:

sudo mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom
