How To Set A Static IP Address In Ubuntu Server 12.04

Edit the network interface file:

sudo vim /etc/network/interfaces

Change the file to the following:

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static


Finally, restart the service:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
